Inside Our First Women's Retreat: Son Rullan, Deià w/Luna Retreats

There's a specific kind of quiet that exists in Deià in August — mountains on one side, the Mediterranean on the other, and a village that seems to have decided, decades ago, that it wasn't going to rush for anyone. It was the perfect place to hold something I'd never done before: my first retreat built entirely for women, at Son Rullan.

The Space

Mornings that set the tone for everything else

Every day began the same way: yoga at 8am, while the light was still soft and the air hadn't yet decided how hot it was going to get. That consistency mattered more than I expected it to. By the second morning, nobody needed reminding where to be — the practice had already become the thread the rest of the day hung from. From there, we moved into mindfulness and breathwork, the parts of the retreat built for going inward, for the quiet, unglamorous work of actually meeting yourself.

The morning practice

The part that surprised even me

This retreat wasn't designed as a generic wellness getaway. It was designed with a specific kind of woman in mind — one who gives so much of herself elsewhere that she's stopped noticing what she actually wants, feels, or needs.

That became most real to us through one guest in particular. She had become a mother, and somewhere in the process of caring for someone else so completely, she'd quietly stopped being someone to herself. Over those days at Son Rullan, we watched her come back — not dramatically, but in the small ways that matter: taking up space at the table, laughing without checking on anyone first, sitting with a bowl of wet clay and just seeing what her hands wanted to make. By the end, her gratitude wasn't really about the retreat. It was about having remembered something about herself she'd nearly let go of.

That, more than any single session, is what this retreat was actually for.

The joy of also the free-time talks by the swimming pool.

What we're carrying
forward

Breathe in calmness. There was only a room with WIFI in the whole premises: the living room

Co-hosting this experience was one of the most satisfying things we've done — not because it went smoothly (though it did), but because of what it confirmed: that women need more spaces built around both stillness and expression, both practice and play. Son Rullan was the first time we built a retreat entirely around that belief, and it won't be the last — we're already carrying it into our next one, Feminine Fire in Lanzarote, this April 2027.

If a retreat like this speaks to you — whether as someone looking to join, or a hotel or brand that wants to co-create something similar — I'd love to hear from you.
